The Wayfarer® System satisfies the needs of subsidised buses in South Africa; with functionality, reports & information required by the National Department of Transport for operators to claim subsidy.

Developed for the South African taxi industry, this handheld ticket machine (PTM) plugs into the larger Wayfarer System giving the taxi operator the same functionality, reports & information required by the National Department of Transport for claiming subsidy.

Taxi Operators benefit from the comprehensive features of the larger Wayfarer System at a Low Cost.

Compatible with the Wayfarer System on buses, this handheld ticket machine handles Multi-Journey smartcard transactions, Stored Value, and Cash.

The passenger presents their smartcard to the PTM which allows/denies access & deducts a trip or value from the passenger’s smartcard, while displaying the balance, route/zone validity & expiry date.

Transaction data is uploaded to the Server for Online Reporting, while configuration data is downloaded from the Server, automatically via 3G.

Automatically handles Smartcards for:

- Blacklisting (lost / stolen smartcards)

- Recharge (adding trips or value, extending expiry dates, routes/zones changes)

The same machine is used for Point Of Sales & Inspection purposes

Connects to the Wayfarer Back Office Software Suite (for Configuration, Monitoring & Online Reporting)
